On January 10th 2019, “Take Down Root” announced a hack of the Universidad de Valladolid in Spain, allegedly exposing personally identifiable information (PII) of well over 1,000 students. While the hacker did not release the entirety of the sites databases, nor did he disclose how the website itself was compromised, in a posting to Pastebin they did release a sample of the information stolen from 5 students. This includes PII such as their name, nationality, date of birth email address, physical home address, telephone number, field of study, course guide, social security number and bank account details.
