This article will be short and sweet, straight to the point. I’m not exactly how it got lost in all of the commotion over the course of the last 24 hours, but the United States Department of Justice did release a full copy of their indictment against Julian Assange Thursday morning – April 11th 2019. According to their press release, Julian Assange is officially being charged with “conspiracy to commit computer intrusion for agreeing to break a password to a classified U.S. government computer.” More specifically, “the indictment alleges that in March 2010, Assange engaged in a conspiracy with Chelsea Manning, a former intelligence analyst in the U.S. Army, to assist Manning in cracking a password stored on U.S. Department of Defense computers connected to the Secret Internet Protocol Network (SIPRNet), a U.S. government network used for classified documents and communications.”

Essentially, US Courts will attempt to argue that Manning was only influenced to continuing hacking/leaking classified documents upon the orders or encouragement of Assange – making him a co-conspirator in the act. If not this, then her actions were being deliberately dictated by Assange himself. Interestingly enough, the indictment seems to absent of any sexual abuse or harassment charges or allegations – such as were accidentally leaked to the public in November 2018.
