The best times to take your vitamins and get maximum effect

Whether in capsule, tablet or liquid form, some advice can be helpful to ensure good efficiency and safety when taking vitamins. These tips are especially true for people who take multivitamin products, for example: B vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin A.

Take with a meal

It is strongly recommended to take the vitamins with meals. We know that when we start eating, the intestine sets certain digestive processes in motion, which enable better absorption of the food and thus the vitamins. In addition, taking vitamins on an empty stomach can lead to side effects such as nausea.

Watch out for coffee

Even if the risk of poor absorption of vitamins is rather low, it is advisable to keep a gap of at least 15 minutes between a coffee and taking the vitamins. It’s all about the absorption of vitamin D and calcium (a mineral), which can be disrupted by caffeine.

Best taken in the morning

Since the B vitamins primarily have a stimulating effect, it is advisable to take them in the morning. Note that certain minerals such as calcium and magnesium are recommended in the evenings as they have a calming effect.

Beware of excess

Vitamins such as vitamin E, vitamin A or beta-carotene can be dangerous if consumed in excess. This is because fat-soluble (fat-soluble) vitamins such as vitamins A, D, E, and K accumulate more in the body than water-soluble vitamins such as group B vitamins or vitamin C. Scientists believe that this accumulation can, in some cases, be harmful to health be.

Watch out for interactions

Vitamins, which are chemical molecules, can also cause drug interactions. In general, vitamins lead to few interactions compared to minerals (e.g. calcium). However, vitamin E is known to have anticoagulant effects, and when taken with blood thinners, internal bleeding may occur.
