Top 10 Best Tested: Toothpaste and Mouthwash For Crowns

What is the best toothpaste and mouthwash for crowns?

We recently received a question from a reader about which toothpaste and mouthwash are best for the maintenance of zirconia crowns. We will answer that in this article.

How do you care for crowns?

In principle, care for zirconia crowns is the same as for porcelain crowns and real teeth. After all, the materials from which crowns are made imitate real teeth, with their smooth tooth enamel, as much as possible.

The basis of oral hygiene applies to real teeth and crowns: brush your teeth twice a day for 2 minutes. In addition, you have to clean the interdental spaces, the places between your teeth, daily with dental floss or toothbrushes, to prevent dental plaque from accumulating there.

After eating, it is best to rinse your mouth with water. Do not brush your teeth immediately after eating or drinking fruit or fruit juice so as not to brush away the tooth enamel, which is temporarily weakened by the acid.

You also have your teeth cleaned by the dental hygienist once or twice a year and you go to the dentist at least once a year for a check-up.

Be careful with certain ingredients

But even if you take good care of your teeth, things can still go wrong. Some kinds of toothpaste and mouthwash contain ingredients that can stain your teeth. This also applies to your real teeth as well as to porcelain and zirconium crowns. This mainly concerns the following ingredients:

Stannous fluoride does prevent caries (cavities) with daily use, but instead, you get stains on your teeth that resemble the stains you get from coffee.

Excessive use of chlorhexidine mouthwash, often prescribed for gingivitis, causes brown discoloration of the teeth. You should therefore only use it during the prescribed period.

The antiseptic ingredient cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC), also prescribed for bacterial infections, can stain teeth if the concentration is too high. As a rule, the concentration is safe, but you should also not use mouthwash with CPC for longer than prescribed.

Mild toothpastes and mouthwashes that clean your teeth without staining them

It goes without saying that in this day and age, when radiant white teeth are increasingly becoming the norm, you are not waiting for discolorations and stains on your teeth. All the more so there are enough ingredients that do not discolor your teeth but help to keep them white.

Toothpaste

JuliBrite chewing Toothpaste and  Mouthwash is a new and environmentally friendly way of brushing your teeth. It naturally takes care of your teeth and helps prevent caries (cavities) and tooth decay. The tooth enamel is strengthened by the mineral HAP (hydroxyapatite), which also occurs naturally in our bones and teeth. The natural sweetener xylitol not only gives a fresh taste, it also effectively fights harmful bacteria in the mouth. This prevents the formation of dental plaque and tartar.

JuliBrite chewing toothpaste tablets neutralize the acidity in the mouth. This benefits the natural balance of the oral flora and stimulates the remineralization of the enamel by the minerals. The natural ingredients do not stain, not on your crowns and not on your real teeth. In fact, JuliBrite chewing toothpaste helps restore the original white color of your teeth.

You can also safely use UK Organics toothpaste to clean your teeth. This brand only uses pure, natural ingredients for its products. The formulas are as simple as they are effective and do not harm your teeth or oral cavity in any way.

The basis of UK Organics toothpaste is formed by the natural antiseptic effect of organic coconut oil. The tooth enamel is remineralized by equally natural minerals.

There is a choice between 4 different toothpaste variants: Spearmint, Charcoal, Tea tree, and Red mandarin.

Dr. Brite natural toothpaste is still in plastic tubes but is just as mild and safe for your teeth and crowns as the above brands. Dr. Brite’s toothpaste and mouthwash are cleaned and protected with natural ingredients that respect the natural balance of the oral cavity.

Mouthwash after brushing

Toothpaste and mouthwash after brushing your teeth is a good habit because it also reaches the spots that the toothbrush misses. But with a soft and natural mouthwash. This is better for your oral flora does not stain your teeth and crowns and does not damage the soft tissues in your mouth.

Take JuliBrite Whitening Mouthwash, for example. It contains natural, organic ingredients such as coconut oil, pigment-free activated carbon and xylitol. These gentle, but effective ingredients inhibit the formation of dental plaque and help prevent tartar, caries (cavities) and gingivitis.

The ingredients of JuliBrite Whitening Mouthwash fight bacteria in a gentle but effective way and have a natural whitening effect. The delicious mint flavor, which immediately gives you fresh breath, is of course also purely natural: originating from organic spearmint and menthol crystals.

You can also rinse your mouth safely, but very effective with OraQlin mouthwash. The formula is based on chlorine dioxide, which, unlike chlorhexidine, has no harmful side effects. So no discoloration of your real teeth and crowns.

Unlike mouthwashes with antiseptic ingredients, Oravall mouthwash does not damage the natural balance of the oral flora. It only disables the harmful bacteria, while the beneficial bacteria can continue to do their job undisturbed.

As mentioned above, you cannot use the antiseptic mouthwashes with chlorhexidine or CPC indefinitely. Over time, you need to set a rest period so that the oral flora can recover. Because Oravall mouthwash does not disturb the natural balance of the oral flora, but actually promotes it, you can continue to use this mouthwash indefinitely.

With OraQlin mouthwash you clean your real teeth and your crowns safely and without the risk of stains. Moreover, you are structurally assured of fresh breath.

Another option is mouth oil. Above we have mentioned UK Organics’ mild, organic and vegan toothpaste. The 4 variants of their toothpaste have corresponding mouth oils, with equally pure and beneficial formulas. This mouthwash with soft, natural antibacterial coconut oil is based on the ancient Indian “oil pulling” from Ayurveda. This cleans your teeth in places where the toothbrush cannot reach and softens and cares for the soft tissues in your mouth.

Finally

Our reader asked specifically about the maintenance of zirconia crowns, but we believe that you are always better off with the above mild toothpastes and mouthwashes. Natural, organic ingredients are very capable of effectively cleaning and caring for your teeth, without the risk of stains.

If the natural balance of your oral flora is respected, your oral health will benefit. And this is ultimately better for your teeth, both for your real teeth and for porcelain or zirconium crowns.
