In Pittsburgh, a police officer was killed and another was wounded in a shootout

In the suburbs of the American city of Pittsburgh, the chief of police was killed and another policeman was wounded last Monday in a shootout. After several hours of pursuit, the 28-year-old assailant was also killed, and the police were hunting him for violating parole after his arrest.

On Monday, two officers encountered 28-year-old Aaron Lamont Swan, who was wanted by police for a parole violation following a firearms-related arrest. During the chase that followed, there were two shootouts.

In the first, Police Chief Justin McIntire was killed by a shot to the head, and in the second, a police officer was wounded in the leg. The injured policeman has already been taken to the hospital and is currently in stable condition. Swan was also wounded in the shooting but managed to steal the car. In the second pursuit, he crashed his vehicle and then fled through the nearby forest to a residential gorge, where he was killed in another shootout with the police.

“Today’s tragedy in Brackenridge is a reminder of the courage of those who risk their lives every day to protect us. Police Chief Justin McIntire ran into danger to ensure the safety of the people of Pennsylvania – and sacrificed himself in the service of the community,” Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro wrote on Twitter.
